WITNESS TO AN ACT OF KINDNESS

On my way to Cospa fitness center to today I witnessed an act of kindness. I live in a very convenient location about three minutes from the Tobu Tojo Line and about four minutes from the Tokyo Metro Line. Tokyo Metro. I use the railroad crossing almost every day if I want to use the Metro Line or when I visit the local Fitness.

It seems like every five to seven minutes the alarm sounds to let everyone know that the train is coming and a few seconds after that the crossing gates come down on each side of the crossing. Everyday I see people running across the tracks at the last minute as the gates come down. In fact, I have often seen people life up the crossing gates and go across after the gates come down.

Today a senior woman (in the U.S. we call people who have reached a certain age seniors) using a devise to increase her mobility decided to go through the railroad crossing right after the gates started to come down along with a few other people.

All the other people quickly moved through the crossing without any awareness of the “senior woman” who had entered the crossing. The woman barely made it under the first gate before it came down and it was clear that the woman would not make it through the crossing before the second gate came down and she might become trapped inside the cross right before the train arrived.

However, on the other side of the crossing a man had also entered the crossing area on his way to the other side. He was aware that the woman would not make it across in time and he held the gate up until she made it safely through to the other side. She thanked him and he rushed through the crossing lifted the other gate and continued on his way a few seconds before the train arrived.

I take medicine each morning the causes me to feel drowsy (sleepy) for the first few hours everyday and today was no different. I was on my way to the Cospa fitness and repeating an affirmation, “I am a part of the ebb and flow of the limitless source of all of life, I have as much energy as I choose to have” in order to acquire enough energy to complete my workout. After witnessing this “random act of kindness” I felt energize and I enjoyed a good workout.

That’s all for now! Please take care, stay positive and have an enjoyable evening!
