I am currently in my suite at the hotel packing up to depart for New Orleans, Louisiana. Early today I enjoyed a late Monday morning brunch at Shula’s Restaurant at the hotel with eight members of my family. We have concluded all the planned activities for my grandmother’s 100th birthday celebration weekend!
My sister’s did an excellent job planning and facilitating my grandmother’s 100th birthday celebration on March 27th at the hotel. It was an intergenerational event filled with love, commendations, songs, dance, photos and hours of conversation! We had an excellent dinner, which included grilled salmon and chicken.
On Sunday one of the local churches hosted another birthday event where there were over 200 people attendance. Once again it was an intergenerational event where we enjoyed cake, punch and testimonies of the positive contribution my grandmother has made over the years to lives of the people in attendance and their families over the years.
Yes, this was the conclusion of my grandmother’s 100th birthday celebration weekend! However, it only marked the beginning of the celebration of each and every precious moment of the rest of my grandmother’s extraordinary life!
