Good morning from San Jose, California! I hope that all is well and you are finding a way to each and every precious moment of your life!
I am flying back to Los Angeles this afternoon to visit my family for a couple more days!
I have enjoyed my short stay here in San Jose even though I was home alone most of the time. That definitely will not be the case in Los Angeles where I will be with my family (including my 6 and 8 year old nephews) most of the time. I am sure that we will share a few more precious moments together before I depart for Tokyo on June 24th at 12:35pm!
Since I am planning to move to Long Beach to later this year my visits to San Jose seem like a part of a farewell tour that will end most likely in December of this year. I have lived in San Jose for over ½ of my adult life and I have experienced a lot of really good times here! Having attended first the University of Santa Clara and later San Jose State University both for graduate school I have met so many people over the years! I have no idea exactly how many people have passed through my life while I was here, but I must have met hundreds of people living here.
Since I arrived here on Thursday June 22 have been going through my belongings here in San Jose and throwing out things that I no longer need. Sorting through my life, through all those memories has been a very interesting process for me. And this is really just the beginning! How to decide what still has value and what has lost it’s value? And what about those photos, what shall I do with all those old photos?
My sister who is a professor of Fine Arts (her specialty being Museum Studies) suggested that I go digital in a conversation we had in LA a few days ago. She is a very spiritual person and believes that it is important to live life without clutter. She believes that when we have too much clutter, too many material things in our lives that it blocks our energy flow. So she regularly goes through her belongings and reduces them to what’s necessary and donates the rest. She suggested that I digitize the papers and photo’s I would like to keep and throw out most of the hard copies.
I will have to invest in a new scanner and begin to eliminate some of the clutter in my life. I would imagine that the idea of too much clutter in my life is probably true for things that are not material as well. For example, what about the people in our lives, including our family, friends and acquaintances? Is it possible to fill our lives with people who do not really serve a positive role in our lives? Is it possible for our lives to become cluttered with negative energy? It is definitely something to think about!
It’s 3:07am and I had planned to go to bed earlier tonight. I will do my best to get some sleep now!
Please take care, stay positive and have an enjoyable evening in Japan, or sweet dreams in the U.S. Of course if you are living in some other part of the world, good morning!
