I received an email from my friend today. She talked about her experience at this orphanage where she volunteers at every Thursday. She shared with me that sometimes she is “troubled” by the experience and sometimes goes completely mad. She went on to say, maybe I might quit later.”
I look at everything that happens in my life as a learning experience! I thought about her experience and I wondered if there was another way for her to think about this experience. Volunteer work is so important, especially at an orphanage! It is also a great opportunity to make a contribution towards the betterment of humankind.
I thought about what I could say to encourage her not to give up. I could ask her, “What can she learn about herself through this experience?” “Is there another way to think about this volunteer experience that would help to make it a more positive one for her?” “How can she use this experience to make her a better, stronger person?”
Dear Alvin, would you be able to provide me further information as I am seeking to volunteer and help out with orphanages here in Tokyo as well.
